30 Paintings in 30 Days fundraiser

Umpqua Community College is hosting an art auction Thursday, Feb. 13 inĀ  the Danny Lang Center to raise funds for a new campus Veterans Center at UCC’s main campus.

The 30 Paintings in 30 Days event will feature the artwork of Linda Aman, celebrated watercolorist and art teacher. Bids on all paintings will start at $30. Guests can also buy pieces on the spot.

The silent auction will be from 5 to 7 p.m. with wine and light hors d’oevres served. The event is free.

“This is a labor of love for me as an artist,” explained Aman. “UCC’s Veterans Center is a great addition to the campus and will serve veteran students for years to come. It’s exciting for me to help in this way. It’s not easy to paint 30 paintings in 30 days, but it’s nothing compared to the service our veterans have given all of us.

The Veterans Center will serve as a gathering place, providing veterans extra support and resources.

“We’re honored to have so many veterans further their education at UCC,” explained Ann Abel, UCC’s veterans coordinator. “The Veterans Center provides a dedicated place to gather, study, and access a network of support and camaraderie to promote the success of each veteran. We appreciate their service and the generous support we have received from the veterans community at large.”
