Violeta Bilan is the current ASUCC activities officer.

This term, the ASUCC Student Leadership Team has recruited Violeta Bilan as Activities Officer for the remainder of the year. The position was vacant since fall term after the previous officer was removed.

Bilan was born in Ukraine. She has also lived in Russia, the country Georgia, Massachusetts and Michigan before moving to Portland and finally Roseburg. She moved frequently because of her husband’s job.

She is currently working part-time as a chaplain and is interested in applying for the nursing program.

When she started attending UCC, she was looking for a way to get involved on campus and decided to join ASUCC Student Leadership Team.

With her role, Bilan hopes to get students more involved with activities and to support the clubs on campus.

“I want my main focus to build a community at UCC. I want students to enjoy their time here, build lasting friendships and have good experiences,” Bilan said.

The project Bilan and the student leadership team is currently working on is a cupcake decorating activity to be held in the campus center Feb. 26 from 12- 2 p.m.

“I want to get people together to do something fun,” Bilan said.

The culinary department will be baking the cupcakes for the activity, and Skills USA will be promoting some of their contests at this event as well.

ASUCC will be providing the culinary department with the supplies to make the cupcakes.

Bilan is also actively working on planning future activities and shared several ideas she hopes to execute this year.

Bilan hopes to host a “Faces of UCC” event where students will be able to have their photographs made with the assistance of the art department.

“I hope it will help save memories of groups and teachers,” Bilan said.

She also would like start on a project for the 50th Anniversary. One of her ideas includes a music video to an original song about UCC life that is yet to be composed.  Bilan hopes to get many students involved with this project.

“I want to do something we as a student body can identify with and express our appreciation,” Bilan said.

Bilan hopes to get a variety of organizations involved with the activities she plans to increase involvement on campus and promote clubs on campus.
