Hard knocks for Knox clutch shot
The Riverhawks men’s team (3-5 season, 6-14 overall) was in desperate need of a win Wednesday, Feb. 6.
After losing their last four games, the men looked to turn that streak around against the SWOCC Lakers.
The Riverhawks jumped out to an early 16-4 lead using a tight man-to-man defense, grabbing rebounds and taking clean shots. Then the Lakers went on a 12-2 run, but the effort was not enough to earn them the lead as the Hawks ended the first half ahead 35-34.
In the second half, the lead changed hands several times with the Lakers pulling ahead by three points with 41 seconds left in the game. Jared Knox hit a clutch 3-pointer with seven seconds left in the game to tie the score 64-64. A last second shot by the Lakers, however, put another loss in the Riverhawks’ record, dropping them to (3-7, 6-15).
Jared Knox led all scorers with 24 points and led all rebounds with eight.
